The Farmhouse
A little country. A lot of dog.
Farmhouse & Fields is tucked into a working family farm in Canning, with an old farmhouse, a securely fenced yard, and plenty of room for the dogs to make themselves at home.
A family farm
This place has been part of the family for generations.
Jamie’s grandparents lived here, and the Ells family farmed the property for many years. Over time, the farm included cattle, apple orchards, turkeys, and chickens, and the family name is still familiar to a lot of people in the area.
Melissa, Jamie, and Weston are still farming here today, with a cow/calf operation of about 90 cows. The daycare dogs have their own securely fenced space away from the cattle, although they can see them from the yard. You know you’re at a farm before you make it to the front door.
These walls have seen a lot over the years.
These days, there are a few more nose prints on the windows and muddy paws across the floor.
Meet Melissa.
Melissa worked in dog boarding before spending about ten years working on a dairy farm. She loved farm life, but she missed working with dogs. Farmhouse & Fields gave her a way to come back to it, right here at the farmhouse.
Dogs have always been a big part of life for Melissa and her family. They have five of their own now and have had as many as seven, so a house full of dogs is nothing new. Keeping daycare small means she gets to know the dogs who come through the door, how they fit into the group, and when somebody might need a little more space or downtime.
